WALKER. Cold, calculating, deadpan, nearly stilted in speech. She is aware of her condition and has near full recollection of the trauma that exacerbated it. A fully trained former army sergeant, she has all the skills to go with it and applies it to any job that pays well. The only unpowered human to have defeated an Iron Fist. Triggered by: Adrenaline, elevated heartrate.

MARY. Bright, trusting, creative, a bit flighty. She has little to no memory of the trauma she endured and she is less acknowledging of her other identities in order to keep the memories buried. For all intents and purposes, Mary is a civilian. Triggered by: Rainfall, running water, strobing lights, lightning, sirens.

TYPHOID. A vengeful, violent killing machine, responsible for slaying her Sokovian captors. Until recently, Mary and Walker each assumed the other was responsible for the massacre that led to their freedom. Triggered by: Immediate threats to her life.

The goals of the Walker and Mary alters exist at odds, leading each personality to try and suppress the other when they become dominant. Walker intends to use her military skills for mercenary work until she accrues enough cash to purchase a solitary cabin in Arizona, where she can spend the rest of her life watching birds fly. Alienated from possible triggers, this would effectively silence Mary, who does not wish to be isolated and staunchly believes she deserves to be happy. Walker refers to Mary's attitude as asinine and her hopes as a pipe dream, while Mary considers Walker a tragic figure, merely "a good person in a bad place." The Typhoid alter goes unknown by both throughout most of the series.

PRE-CANON. Mary Walker was recruited to the U.S. Army in Greenbay, Wisconsin, where she grew up. Throughout her military career, she rose to the rank Sergeant First Class. While leading her squad on an operation in Sokovia, they were ambushed and captured by enemy soldiers. Over the course of 22 months, Walker's squadmates were tortured within earshot of her cell and, one by one, murdered in front of her. Walker herself was routinely questioned, tortured and raped; her only escape was into her own mind. When the rain fell through the grated ceiling of her cell, she would carve flowers into the wall using a discarded coin.


IRON FIST S2. Walker is hired by Joy Meachum and Davos to track Danny Rand. While surveiling, Mary is triggered and befriends Danny without knowing that Walker has designs on him. Once she pieces it together, she warns Danny that he is being watched. Nonetheless, Walker is able to complete her mission, disabling the Iron Fist with clever combat and a cocktail of drugs. Upon its power transferring to Davos, Joy hires Walker again, to protect her from him.
